Dolcetto

2008 Dolcetto Santa Barbara County

2008 Dolcetto Santa Barbara County

An old saying goes “good things come in threes” and that is certainly the case with our 3rd vintage of Dolcetto.  It has all the wonderful qualities of prior vintages combined with a velvety mouthfeel, softer tannins, aromas of violets and flavors of dark chocolate, raspberries and black cherries.  Like our prior vintages, this one is dark and mouthfilling, and quite different from traditionally-styled Dolcetto from Italy’s Piedmont region, which tend to be lighter in body.  Enjoy our rich, complex wine with a juicy steak topped with bleu cheese, grilled rosemary lamb chops, braised pork shanks, sausage risotto with fennel or a decadent sirloin burger with poblano, bacon and grilled onions and you’ll be living la dolce vita!

2008 Diavolessa Santa Barbara County

2008 Diavolessa Santa Barbara County

An old saying goes “the devil is in the details” – case in point is Tre Anelli’s painstakingly created red blend called Diavolessa (which means “she-devil” in Italian, just in case you were wondering).  Two of the beloved grapes of Piedmont, Dolcetto and Barbera, make up more than half of this proprietary blend which also includes Petite Sirah and Zinfandel.  Meticulously tasted over many months, carefully blended to bring out the best of each varietal and then bottle aged, this wine was a labor of love.  Diavolessa slides smoothly across your palate with flavors of cranberry, tart cherry, raspberry and hints of cinnamon and cigar box.  Balanced acidity and tannins combined with enticing flavors make Diavolessa incredibly food friendly.  Try some paired with hard cheeses, tomato-based sauces, spicy dishes, barbecued meat.  How about a charcuterie plate and a Margherita pizza?   You can always say “the devil made me do it”!
