This is the new vintage of one of the most popular wine varietals that we’ve had in the tasting room. As with the previous vintage, the 2007 Tre Anelli Dolcetto has been produced with a rich, mouth filling style that defies the somewhat lighter approach often found in traditional Dolcetto from the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. Classic black cherry flavors with a touch of licorice are supported by a firm tannin structure, and will stand up to the richest of pasta dishes. Not a desert wine but it can also be used as an excellent way to cap off your meal by enjoying it with some rich dark chocolate or blue cheese & pears.
The Dolcetto grape is typically a light bodied red wine that can accompany dishes such as pork, poultry, light pasta's and even fish. The grapes name is a misnomer indicating that it is sweet when in fact is carries tart flavors similar to cranberry and underlying tones of bittersweet chocolate.
We chose to use the Walker Vineyard for the 2007 Vintage of our Dolcetto production. This unassuming vineyard is located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley and is the perfect climate for the grapes development. Not too hot, not too cold... it's just right.
