2007 Syrah Camp 4 Vineyard

« Back to Consilience Wines

Winemaker Notes

True to the Camp 4 Syrah tradition here at Consilience, this vintage is a balanced and complex union of spice and fruit. Smooth, well-integrated tannins and flavors of plum, black cherry and white pepper on the palate lead to a long, luscious finish of cola, black fruits and mocha with hints of smoke. Sumptuous and satisfying, this wine pairs best with heartier fare like grilled lamb chops with olive tapenade butter, Santa Maria style tri-tip, roasted pork with smoky red pepper sauce or just a juicy bacon cheese burger.

Varietal Characteristics

Syrah can be a very versatile Rhone varietal, generally having a medium to heavy body, branded with blackberry tones. Depending on the area it is grown, it can also have pepper flavors, making it an excellent compliment to a steak.

Vineyard Source

Camp 4 Vineyard is ideally set in a warm climate zone, on the edge of Happy Canyon. The vineyard is relatively flat which allows for even and consistent ripening of the grapes.
