Winemaker Notes

Known by many names - Garnacha, Abudante, Alicante, Elegante, Rousillon Tinto and Tocai Rosso - Grenache is one of the most widely grown grape varieties in the world – and for good reason.  Grenache grows well in warm climates (like the Rhone in France, many parts of Spain and our very own Central Coast region) and produces wines with beautiful berry flavors, soft tannins and subtle spice characteristics.  If you are patient enough to let Tre Anelli’s Grenache breathe, you’ll be rewarded with a wine that changes and develops in the glass with inviting aromas of cedar and briar fruit that lead to heady flavors of ripe raspberry, blackberry and hints of pepper.  It pairs well with an incredibly wide variety of foods including grilled lamb chops, Santa Maria style tri-tip and or good ole smoked pork ribs.  So fire up the barbeque and open a bottle of Tre Anelli Grenache!

Varietal Characteristics

Grenache is a light to medium bodied red wine with an initially chalky texture that has flavors of cherry cola, licorice.  With oxygen this grape has a tendency to evolve in the glass.  Each sip reveals a new perception.

Vineyard Source

We sourced our 2010 Grenache from the Estelle Vineyard in the Happy Canyon AVA, a warm climate area of the Santa Ynez Valley.  This vineyard site is optimal for the Italian grape allowing full flavor development.
